Upstairs is a virtual creative communications consultancy. We deliver internal and corporate communications projects for an eclectic group of clients to whom we have been recommended or referred.
We have grown over the last eight years from two ideas. After working in consultancy, design, corporate and internal communications, PR, magazine publishing and in-house, we recognised internal communications was a growing, interesting and challenging area where employees deserved the best. And if we managed the best, we could help actually change things, we could see the results. We also knew that creative work was always going to be a happier process and better quality if everyone had the flexiblity to work where they liked, switch on their Mac when they were completely awake and let the dog(s) out before any accidents.
Now, we work all over the UK as one virtual team, with a bijou base by the Thames. We can start with strategy, sometimes it’s with the need for a brand (or to revive an exhausted one), occasionally there are business problems that need to be solved or an identified change that needs to happen successfully. Often, it’s all about a new business project that people need to be involved in, to understand and then to take advantage of increased efficiencies on offer.
Mostly, we think we get known for dealing with the ‘hard to make interesting’ stuff because we transform it. And because we are easy to work with, taking the time to understand what our job is… Plus, the way we are set up means we are very cost efficient. Just like our clients.
